Video Interactive Guidance highlights the successful interactions already happening between you and your child, building your relationship through evidence-based visual reflection. It is an entirely strengths-based process.

Dr Rachel Pereira da Silva is currently working towards full accreditation as a VIG practitioner on a supervised pathway after gaining an initial qualification in this specialism.

Identifying the existing moments of connection and supporting innate strengths allows a child to grow in confidence and thrive.

A collaborative process

We analyse brief, positive video moments together, focusing entirely on strengths to build confidence and highlight practical, relational scaffolding. VIG is available for parents and professionals wanting to strengthen their interactions with children and young people of all ages.

Step One:
Recording natural interactions and play

The VIG practitioner selects very short clips of positive moments and interactions. This is entirely positive in focus, there are no suggestions of what you 'should' do. The clips highlight moments of positive connection and communication which a care giver (or professional) might not even be aware of.

Using basic video functions on a tablet, phone or laptop, a short film of a comfortable, everyday interaction is captured.

Together, we review the selected clips frame-by-frame. Seeing these moments of connection builds immediate confidence and deepens understanding of the relationship between the parent / professional and child or young person.

Step Two:
